We're delighted to announce Adj Professor Mark O'Brien as our AGM speaker this year. Mark brings a valuable combination of clinical grounding and global leadership expertise and will challenge us to rethink how our sector creates and communicates value in a moment where ageing populations and chronic disease are pushing hospital capacity toward breaking point.

Associate Fellow and Programme Director of the Oxford Healthcare Leadership Programme at Saïd Business School, Adjunct Professor at the University of Queensland, and a Non-Executive Director of St John of God Healthcare Australia, Prof O’Brien brings a governance lens while drawing on a clinical career that began as a rural family physician in Australia. His vision for better health management led him to create a risk management and leadership consultancy that has trained an estimated 300,000 healthcare professionals across 17 countries — a vantage point to share how health systems around the world are grappling with the same pressures we are.

This special AGM presentation will speak directly to the challenge at the heart of our sector's advocacy: as ageing populations and chronic disease push hospital systems toward breaking point, value creation for pathology and diagnostics can no longer be sold on the old, linear story of reliability alone.

Learn how to reframe our value proposition for a world of increasing complexity, where technology-led solutions can keep people well and out of hospital beds, and why the only way to realise this value is for price to go down even as quality goes up. We’ve specifically chosen this compelling, provocative speaker, talking to the burning platform we’ve been building our advocacy around. This is an unmissable session for anyone invested in where our sector goes next and understanding what role you can play.

Block out your calendars on 27th October from 8:30am and secure your spot to hear Prof O’Brien speak. Register here.
