Domenic Straneri (Chair)

Vice President and General Manager Australia and NZ, Thermo Fisher Scientific

Domenic is the current Vice President and General Manager (VPGM) for Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Australia and New Zealand operations. Across a company career spanning over 20 years, Domenic has held senior leadership roles based in various geographies, including China and Hong Kong (Vice President Commercial Operation Services and Supply Chain; VPGM APAC for Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Clinical Trials Division), and Japan, before repatriating to Australia in 2020.
Driven by his passion to realise Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Mission – To Enable Customers To Make The World Healthier, Cleaner and Safer – Domenic accepted the role of Country Leader for ANZ, leading the business through the pandemic, and playing a significant part in Thermo Fisher Scientific’s response to COVID-19.
Domenic is a transformational leader with a strong determination to establish and guide high performing leadership teams; something he has been able to achieve since returning to Australia. His strategic focus has resulted in the elevation of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s standing and influence across critical stakeholder cohorts, including government, academia and industry.

Novak Laforest

Enterprise Solutions Director, Abbott Rapid Diagnostics in Australia & New Zealand

Novak has over 25 years’ experience in medical devices, pharmaceutical and pathology industries. She currently is the Enterprise Solutions Director for the Core Diagnostics business at Abbott ANZ and over the past years has held numerous senior leadership positions managing teams across ANZ and Asia.  Novak’s significant experience as a senior business leader in ANZ across many health industries means she has a unique perspective on the challenges faced by the industry in Australia as well as the region.  Novak’s industry experience means she is passionate about the critical role of pathology in supporting patient outcomes and the healthcare system more generally.

Fabian Ehlen (Treasurer)

Head of Finance and Operations Roche Diagnostics

Fabian is currently the Head of Finance and Operations at Roche Diagnostics Australia. During his 12 years’ experience in the Healthcare industry he held several positions in Global, Regional and Country functions in both Australia and Switzerland. Prior to that, he worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers and KPMG in Switzerland and Germany where he started his career in financial audit and consulting.

Fabian holds a MBA from the University of Cologne (Germany). He is also a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified Financial Manager (CFM) from the Institute of Management Accountants, Montvale, New Jersey (USA), and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from New Hampshire (USA).

Karen MacLeod

Director and Country Manager, MP Biomedicals

Karen’s 30-year career in the in-vitro diagnostics and pharmaceuticals industries began as a medical scientist in public pathology and includes varied sales and management roles with Australian based global companies such as BioMerieux, Boehringer Mannheim (now Roche) and GSK. Currently Director and Country Manager at MP Biomedicals, she is responsible for all sales, management, and regulatory functions. Karen has a Bachelor of Applied Science and Graduate Diploma in Marketing from UTS, Sydney, and has been a member of the IVD Australia Technical and Regulatory Standing Committee since 2011.

Antoniette Violo

Oceania Sales and Service Director Regional Segment Leader, LSDX Revvity

Antoniette’s 30-year career in the Life Sciences and IVD industry began as a researcher in the Academic sector. She entered the commercial role, working for Linbrook International, where she held several roles both in commercial and product management. She was approached to establish the Life Sciences and Diagnostic Business for PerkinElmer over 20 years ago. Within PerkinElmer she has held commercial roles within Australia and in Asia Pacific. She has a Bachelor of Science degree with Hons, specializing in the field of Genetics and Immunology.

Jenny Carson

General Manager, Siemens Healthineers ANZ, Diagnostics

Jenny Carson is currently the General Manager at Siemens Healthineers, Diagnostics ANZ. She has been part of pathology for more than 35 years and has worked in the in vitro diagnostics (IVD) industry for 25 years. Throughout her IVD career she has held senior management roles in sales, marketing and Business Unit Management. Jenny holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (MLS) from Charles Sturt University and a Graduate Diploma of Management from Macquarie Graduate School of Management.

Colin Denver

CEO, SpeeDX

Colin Denver is an experienced sales professional with nearly 20 years sales experience working in the Life Science and Diagnostic fields. He has experience in establishing new organisations having set up Bioline in Australia in 2004. Colin enjoyed continued growth while at Bioline with quarter on quarter growth achieved since inception. Colin went on to manage sales in Asia/Pacific for Meridian Bioscience (post Bioline acquisition) and drove consistent growth within the territory.

Colin started as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for SpeeDx, responsible for the promotion of all SpeeDx branded products as well as acquisition of new licensing and commercial agreements. He now holds the role of CEO, overseeing the expansion of SpeeDx as products are launched across Europe, United States and Australia/New Zealand. Colin holds a Bachelor of Science from Pepperdine University and a Post Graduate Diploma of Management from MGSM.
