The Missing Piece – ovarian cancer

The Missing Piece – ovarian cancer

It took over 2 years for access to testing that identified suitable treatment for newly diagnosed ovarian cancer patients, during which time 88 LIVES were lost and an estimated $319.1 MILLION in benefits were foregone.

A universal provision offering fully funded genetic testing for all cancers would avoid delays and open up novel and potentially life-saving treatment options for those Australians unlucky enough to receive a cancer diagnosis.

Because I had the pathology test, I had access to this drug that, I mean, that has saved my life.” – Jacinta, Ovarian Cancer survivor.

Jacinta’s story   tells how she chose to pay for the test that identified her as a candidate for compassionate access to combination therapy that saved her life.

Jacinta aims to raise awareness of the importance of fast and equitable access to life-saving pathology testing.

“I feel this very keenly because I have benefited and many other women haven’t” – Jacinta Visit the Missing Piece website to hear more stories from patients, clinicians, and care givers on the value of pathology technology and join us as we champion for universal acknowledgement of the importance of genetic testing in cancer management.
